How does the EV charging time calculator estimate the session?

It multiplies usable battery capacity by the difference between the target and starting state of charge. It then accounts for charging efficiency and divides grid energy by the charger power you enter.

Why is grid energy higher than energy stored in the battery?

Charging is not perfectly efficient. The efficiency input represents the share of electricity that reaches the battery, so the planner includes the remainder as charging losses.

Does the result include the charging curve of my car?

No. The estimate uses the sustained charger power you enter. Real vehicles may reduce power near a high state of charge, and the charger or installation may also limit power.

How is recovered range calculated?

The planner divides battery energy added by vehicle consumption in kilowatt hours per 100 kilometres. It is an estimate of usable driving range, not a promise about a route or weather conditions.

How does the currency selector change the price?

Each currency has an offline reference factor against the euro. Switching currency converts the visible electricity price and total cost while keeping the same approximate tariff. Update the price if your local rate differs because exchange rates and electricity tariffs change.

# Battery Energy and Grid Energy Are Different

The battery receives only part of the electricity drawn from the grid. The calculator divides energy added to the battery by charging efficiency to account for losses in the onboard charger, cable, battery temperature management, and related equipment. Use a realistic sustained power value because a connector rating is not always the power a vehicle can hold.

# Read the Estimate as a Planning Range

A simple power estimate is most useful for comparing scenarios and deciding whether a session fits your parking window. It does not model the vehicle specific charging curve, battery temperature, queue time, demand charges, taxes, subscriptions, or a charger that is shared with another vehicle.
Use sustained power for a more honest estimate
If your car reaches a high peak only briefly, enter the power it can maintain through most of the charge window. For a conservative plan, slightly reduce the power or add time after reading the result.
Use the estimate as a planning guide: real sessions can vary when charging power tapers, temperatures change, or the vehicle shares a connection.
